The Winning White: Antique White USA

My main criteria for the internal wall paint is that I don't want it to be too creamy / yellowish because my previous house was a creamy white and all my indoor photos needed to be white balanced properly with post processing. There are so many whites to choose from though and after a while most of the different shades of off white start to look the same. Lucky for me, Dulux has a most popular awards brochure

The most popular colour is Antique White USA ...
"It’s a perfect “ivory” – not pure white or cream, but somewhere in-between!"
Sounds perfect enough for me! After googling a bit about this special Antique White USA, it is indeed pretty popular. Apparently the 'architect tip' is to do normal Antique White USA for the walls, double or triple strength gloss for the doors and trimmings, and 1/4 strength for the ceilings. This is what I'll be following, except I will probably do normal Ceiling White so I don't have to go mixing it and hoping Bunnings gets the 1/4 strength right every time I need to touch up my ceilings.

In case, Dulux removes that pdf for whatever reason, the winning colours are:

  1. Antique White USA
  2. Whisper White
  3. Hog Bristle
  4. White Duck
  5. Toffee Fingers
The winning Feature Colours are:
  1. Red Box
  2. Ocean Turf
  3. Domain
  4. Red Terra

Update: Porter Davis only use Wattyl for interior paint! :( We have chosen Winter Mushroom

Interior Paint - Wattyl Winter Mushroom

Painting is complete. We've gone for the grey finish to the walls. Here's how the Winter Mushroom looks. Originally we thought of doing white for the architraves and doors but got convinced by the colour consultant to use the same paint all round. Was a bit worried at first but it has come off nicely.

Cedar Plank Palandri Carpets Laid

Carpets were laid just before Christmas except for the master bedroom which was getting its squeaks fixed .  We picked the Palandri Category 2 carpets in Cedar Plank colour. Nothing too fancy as Category 2 was the included freebie and we didn't want to pay the Porter Davis premium for upgrades. Figured when it's better to let the kids wear out this one and replace it in a few years time at a much cheaper cost per square metre. Here's a roll of carpet. The most excited I've ever been to see a roll of carpet :)

PCI Checklist

My Practical Completion Inspection is on in about 12 hours time! Here's a comprehensive checklist I've copied from the Homeone forums.
